4th of July Recipes: Blackberry and Blueberry Pie | Submitted By: Debbie Sanchez

A wonderful taste combination, this terrific pie can be made in the summer with fresh berries and in the winter with frozen ones. The berries are mixed with sugar, flour and cinnamon, spooned into a waiting crust, and sprinkled with lemon juice and dotted with butter. And then on goes the top crust and it 's ready for the oven.

Mom’s Cheesecake – Simply the Best

This recipe has been handed down through the generations and I consider myself very lucky to have gotten a copy. Takes a long time, but it is so worth it. It?s a huge hit if you have to bring a dessert to a party? who doesn?t like cheesecake? I?ve tried making it more ?diet-friendly? but that just doesn?t seem to work out. I was able to swap out low to no fat on the cheeses and sour cream, but when I tried switching out the sugar for splenda or equal, it didn?t rise. But, as long as you don?t overindulge, it can?t be that bad for you ? and you only live once, you have to enjoy excellent tastes! -- posted by Laurita

Sara’s Turkey Chili

I am definitely a chili-lover, and decided to try a healthier variation of my regular chili and add ground turkey instead of my usual ground beef. Definitely a keeper! Even better with some sour cream and shredded cheddar.

To keep it healthier for my current diet, I did not add much turkey. If you are a meat lover, I suggest you add a little more ground turkey, maybe about a pound. You could even do half ground turkey and half ground beef. -- posted by MissSara87
